SeaHawks Vs. Sea Lions for Super Bowl XLIX

Super Bowl Sunday is almost upon us!

Bring on the chips, dip, wings, burgers and beer. Are we right?!

But wait – there’s something even better happening just a few miles away from the Phoenix, Arizona stadium where the New England Patriots and Seattle SeaHawks will battle for the win.

Sea lions at the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium are getting ready for the big game by playing with their own (properly inflated) footballs.

While it seems the Sea Lions aren’t picking a team just yet, they are having a splendid time simply playing with their very own pigskin.

These sea lions are fairly new members of the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium family and seem to be enjoying the brand new outdoor expansion.

Not only are the sea lions having a blast getting ready for the Super Bowl, but they’re also bringing ocean awareness to landlocked Arizona.

As the only marine mammals in Arizona, the two beautiful California sea lions at the Wildlife World Zoo act as animal ambassadors to the over 400,000 annual visitors.

The species itself is under duress. In recent years, California sea lions have struggled with a high mortality rate due to overfishing, habitat destruction and numerous other pressures placed on our oceans.

It may seem like just fun and games, but the more people that fall in love with the Wildlife World Zoo’s sea lions, the more people will care about the plight of our ocean animals.
