Sharks are some of the most misunderstood creatures on the planet. Movies depict them as vicious man-eating beasts, but are they really?
The answer is no! In fact, the reason for all this confusion is the way movies and television have portrayed these creatures.
Movies such as Jaws and Sharknado have shaped our minds and thoughts about these amazing creatures. They show sharks as deadly man-eating monsters when that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Different species of sharks serve different purposes for the ecosystem.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science is getting the truth out about these awesome and misunderstood animals. The museum has all kinds of shark exhibits to explore and learn from. You can visit the shark tagging station and track various species of sharks, or visit on the shark tanks and pet some of the smaller species. You can even compare jaw structures of a megalodon with a modern day great white!
If not for places such as The Houston Museum of Natural Science, sharks continue to be feared and misunderstood. If you live in the Houston area, it’s definitely worth a trip to the museum. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of sharks and the benefits they offer the ocean ecosystems. You will also learn of the things they actually eat, that of which does not include humans!
