Surfing – Pig Style

When someone says the word “pet” most people think of dogs, cats, maybe rabbits. We’ll even throw in the potential for rodents, reptiles, or fish.

For one surfer in Hawaii, his version of man’s best friend is a pig. But this isn’t your everyday pig.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a surfing pig on our hands!

Kama, the surfing pig, had humble beginnings. His owner discovered he could swim after Kama felt into the pool as a baby. His owner thought that if he can swim he might also be able to surf. That theory turned out to be right for this man and the pig– Kama can totally surf.

Some of you might be thinking, “Yeah, OK, he just puts the pig on the board and says it can surf.” Well, not exactly.

Kama swims out into the ocean and climbs onto the board, moving forward or backward on the board depending on the kind of wave. This radical pig truly enjoys surfing. He will even get bored if the waves are not high enough, and jump off the board to swim around. The sounds this little pig make clearly show he loves surfing. This is an awesome story and the fact that footage of the pig surfing is captured by a GoPro camera is even cooler.

The ocean is a beautiful ecosystem for all to enjoy, whether you are a fish swimming in the water or a pig just trying to catch some waves, so remember that it is important to keep the waters clean!
