You Won’t Believe This: Cat Almost Dies From Vegan Diet

We’re taking a break from the ocean for this one. It’s one thing to be crazy all on your own; however, you need to leave your poor pets out it.

Alas, that was not the case when a poor cat was forced to live on a strict Vegan diet by its owners. And by “live on,” we mean “try to kill.”

A couple in North Melbourne, Australia, brought the unresponsive cat into a veterinary hospital in the knick of time. The cat was barely able to move and a team of vets immediately started working to save the lethargic feline.

This tragic case is a prime example of a recent phenomenon of pet owners “forcing ideology” onto their pets.

“Concern for animal welfare has to include a biologically-appropriate diet,”said Leanne Pinfold, a veterinarian at Lort Smith Animal Hospital. “You can’t force your ideology on the cat. Carnivores will seek out meat and your cat is possibly more likely to go hunting and kill local native fauna if you deprive it of meat.”

The vets hooked the cat up to a fluid drip, placed it on a heating pad, and began feeding it meat. The cat’s health improved immensely within a short amount of time and within three days the owners were allowed to bring their pet home with strict instructions to enforce a carnivorous diet.

Fortunately, this case had a happy ending. It is critical to remember that responsible pet owners should put the welfare of their animals first, which means human ideology should get relegated to the back burner.
