Australian Bros Have A Close Call With A Marlin

Conor Cogan and his mates hooked a massive striped marlin on a New Year’s fishing trip off Port Stephens in Australia. But with cameras everywhere, this fishing tale is verifiable and downright scary.
You see, this marlin didn’t care too much for being hooked.
Cogan told the Newcastle Herald,
“We had only just hooked up so he was still green and pretty angry,’’Cogan said.
“He only jumped once and then made this turn, caught the wash and speared straight towards me.’’
Cogan can be seen working to tag the fish as Ryan and Peter Constable work on the deck. Skipper Rob Constable is heard in the background.
“He did hit me, on the back of my t-shirt there was a layer of marlin slime but not on a scratch on me.’’
According to The Herald, the marlin lived to fight (and scare the tar out of other fishermen) another day.

Had a great day off Port Stephens yesterday on board ” The Pump”. Went 6-6-4 for the day and also had one come into the boat. Pretty much as close as it gets.
