Video: Heroic Family Saves Dolphins

It’s not every day a family can legitimately call themselves heroes, one special family now has that right.

While on vacation at a Scottish island, 13-year-old Finlay Meakin noticed a stranded pod of 19 dolphins. He immediately asked his mom and uncle to help him rescue these beautiful creatures.

But they needed to accomplish this rescue operation safely.

It’s important to know that most countries have guidelines for stranded marine life. In this case, Finlay noticed the dolphins and enlisted the help of his mom and uncle. The family used their luggage straps to lift up the heavy animals. The rescue took two hours and every dolphin made it back to the deeper waters of the ocean safely.

Rescuing stranded dolphins can be risky. According to Uncover California, stranded dolphins are usually sick or suffering from an infection. Anyone helping the stranded animals would be at risk.

The moral of the story is: don’t just sit back and watch, do something. This family stepped up and because of that 19 dolphins are alive! If you ever see any stranded animals make sure to call the appropriate professionals to ensure the animals are rescued safely.
