With Martin Luther King, III weighing in on the video of Blackfish star and Beneath the Surface author John Hargrove going on a racial slur-filled tirade, attendance at his public book signings has plummeted.
Or in some cases, cancelled all together.
According to sources who were present, the April 2 book signing at Book Soup in Los Angeles had only eight attendees.
That’s zero-eight.
A review of the bookstore’s social media channels did not reveal any promotion for the author’s appearance after word of his racist ranting spread across the country. Being too late to cancel, perhaps the bookstore decided not to promote the event in hopes that no one would know he was there. It seems to have worked.
However, comments on social media asking the book store to cancel the event in the wake of the Hargrove n-word video did appear.
Comments like these:
It’s important for people, no matter where they fall on the issue of captivity, to stand against the insensitive racist comments gleefully made by John Hargrove. In 2015, Americans should reject his comments and refuse to give him their money.
