Our favorite white whale is back! Migaloo graced us with his presence yet again in the waters of Queensland this past weekend. The celebrity mammal made quite an impression by flipping around his white tail as he was spotted off South Burleigh. The most recent sighting of Migaloo was last month and was actually caught on camera.
“I’ve never seen him come in the south before and I think it’s been ten years since he’s come in the south,” tour guide operator Karen Evans told 7 News.
The Franklin family was on a Father’s Day trip when they spotted Migaloo. They were excited about the rare sighting of the whale. Another person that saw Migaloo said “We’re very lucky cause I’ve found out there are only four in the whole world,”
Migaloo is the first all-white whale spotted in the world. The whale swims up the coast of Australia from Antarctica and to Tropical North Queensland when the waters get too cold. He is protected under Australian law and is one of the most famous humpback whales. He is one of the only all-white whales and can be easily be identified.
