As Thanksgiving approaches, this video on Grind.com of hundreds of blacktip sharks feasting on a school of bluefish is all too relevant.
Joshua Jorgenson, the originator of The BacktipH Fishing show based in Palm Beach Garden, Florida, got word of this bluefish massacre and took his drone to the sky.
Noticing that the bluefish were much bigger than their usual size, Jorgenson explained in the video, “This is not usual in Florida. Typically our bluefish are very small. These are northern-sized bluefish, 10-pound-plus fish—huge for Florida.”
Jorgenson went on to explain just how little of a chance these bluefish stood, “Once a Blacktip grabbed a bluefish, all the surrounding sharks charged in and tried to get a piece. It was literally a ball of sharks.” As time passed, more and more blacktips showed up to the party, making sure they got their money’s worth of bluefish. Jorgenson watched in awe, explaining that, “Within 30 minutes there were hundreds and hundreds of blacktips feeding on the bluefish. The bluefish were forced to break away from their position and literally fled as fast as they could away from the sharks.”
The ferocity and hunger of these blacktip sharks were just a downright incredible display of nature in its purest form. Keep that in mind when reaching for the turkey and potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner.
