Late in January, the Mystic Aquarium released a nine-month-old seal named Sweet William back into the wild. The seal was at the aquarium for two months being rehabilitated. Sweet William was found off the coast of Maine and rescued by Marine Mammals of Maine before being transferred to Mystic’s Animal Clinic last November.

When he was brought in, Sweet William weighed only 29 pounds, which is well under what he should weigh. During his rehabilitation, he put on weight and at the time of release he was up to a respectable 50 pounds. He has also treated for severe facial wounds pneumonia while at the aquarium.
