What’s the key to snapping the perfect dolphin photo? Patience, and being in the right place at the right time.
Grace Beahm, a photographer for South Carolina newspaper The Post and Courier, was walking back to her car after filming a food and wine festival when something caught her eye.
A crowd had gathered on the edge of the Charleston Harbor watching a pod of dolphins. “They drew quite a crowd of spectators from the piers at the Charleston Maritime Center and the Fort Sumter Tour dock,” Beahm said. “You could hear peoples delight when the fins would break the surface in pairs and triples.”
So what did she do?
Beahm found a good spot and waited 15 minutes for another to breech with camera at the ready. And the results were spectacular!
One of Beahm’s photos received more than 100 Facebook shares in the first hour.
”We’re so fortunate to live in a place where we can see so much wildlife,” Beahm added.
