Last month we shared the great news that the pods of the endangered Southern Resident killer whales had some new additions.
The J-Pod calves were spotted on February 12 by the Center for Whale Research.
This week, observers from the Pacific Whale Watch Association announced they spotted the two three month old calves frolicking and playing around – you know, being baby orcas.
“Doing what baby orcas do,” said Michael Harris, Executive Director of the PWWA in an update.
“The two J-Pod calves are looking great — in fact, downright athletic. Both of them seem to be leaping for joy out there. The breaches we’re seeing are pretty spectacular. These little whales are really getting some air beneath them.”
