With summer just almost here, you may be ready for a little fun in the sun. The same goes for our furry companions. We’ve created a list of the best dog beaches in the southeast to explore with four-legged friends. So grab some shades, a towel, and a tennis ball and head to the beach.
Fort De Soto Park Paw Playground – Tierra Verde, Florida
This beach has been voted one of the best beaches for both people and our four-legged friends. There are two fenced areas for both small and large dogs, as well as a quarter-mile of beach designated for dogs to run free.
Nags Head Beach – Nags Head, North Carolina
The beach at Nags Head offers 11 miles of public coast for you and your dog to frolic along the ocean. Like many beaches there is a leash law, but remember it is for the safety of others and your dog. After a stroll along the beach be sure to check out the numerous dog-friendly establishments the area has to offer.
Dog Beach – Key West, Florida
Explore the beautiful islands of Key West along with your dog at Dog Beach. The area is known for its laid-back, friendly vibe and that goes for dogs as well. Hotels and restaurants offer dog-friendly services and discounts.
Oak Island Beaches – Wilmington, North Carolina
Oak Island has numerous beaches to explore alongside your pooch. There are leash restrictions on the beaches, but from October to March dogs are allowed off-leash on certain beaches. When planning a trip to these beaches make sure to check on the off-leash access areas for fulltime fun.
Cape San Blas Beaches – Cape San Blas, Florida
This area is a hidden gem within the bustles of Florida beaches. Dogs are required to be leashed, but that doesn’t have to take away from enjoying the serenity of the beach while soaking up some Florida dog-friendly hospitality.
