Here’s some wild news!
Scientists and researchers say that 120,000 cubic miles of freshwater – 100 times more than we (the human race) have used since the year 1900 – is lying beneath the ocean floor.
It’s pretty much in the last place you’d think to look.
Scientists from Flinders University published a study in the scientific journal Nature that says there is more and more evidence suggesting freshwater reserves could be global.
The reserves, which are estimated to have formed hundreds of thousands of years ago and the water was filtered through the ground before being covered by ocean water.
The International Business Times reports that places like Australia, North America, South Africa and China are home to such reserves.

This amount is more than 20 times the amount of ALL the water in the five Great Lakes.
If we want to use this water for drinking purposes, the only way to get it is … you guessed it, drilling. Only time will tell if this is a price some may be willing to pay.
