Michael McCarthy with See Through Canoe recently had a fascinating encounter with a pair of dolphins near Weeki Wachee, Florida. McCarthy was able to record the two hunting mullet.
What makes this run-in unique is that the dolphins were utilizing an incredibly complex hunting technique – making their own mud net.
The dolphins herded the mullet into the shallows and rapidly circled their prey, stirring up the pluff mud and creating a cloudy net trapping the mullet.
Bam! Dinner.
