There is nothing more fun and beautiful than a picnic on the beach, but if you’re not prepared it can actually be a pretty frustrating and disappointing experience.
It doesn’t have to be. Follow these easy steps to make sure your beach picnic is one to remember.
Finger food is the best.
You already have a lot to lug around with that picnic basket, blanket, etc. so don’t plan to eat foods that would require silverware or serving spoons. Try smaller finger sandwiches, cheese, pre-sliced fruits and veggies. Hummus is a good option too, as long as the pita is already sliced into dipping triangles.
Pack a blanket.
Not just a blanket, but something to provide shade too if you’re planning to picnic during the hotter hours of the day. Pro-tip: if your blanket is very lightweight, grab some magnets from the craft storeĀ and attach them to the corners to weigh your blanket down.
Kid-friendly snacks
Goldfish, shark fruit snacks, anything to get them excited about this picnic.
Coolers with wheels!
Have you seen those coolers with handles that can be pulled like a rolling suitcase? It’s durable, easy to move, and can double as a bench for anyone who doesn’t want to sit on your awesome blanket. Plus, some have cup holders on the top.
Coolers are a great hiding place for your keys, wallet, super expensive camera, etc.
Cups and plates?
Ok, I know we told you not to bring food that requires silverware, and drinking straight from the juice box and eating out of the tupperware is the best option. But if you must, consider using water bottles, tumblers, or anything with a lid to assure no sand gets into your Cheerwine (cough, cough).
Grab the baby wipes.
There is rarely a mess that baby wipes can’t clean up. Plus, a pack of baby wipes is a lot cheaper than the fancy hand-sanitizing towelettes meant for adults. And they smell nice.
Don’t forget the camera.
Pics or it didn’t happen, people!
And last thing, invite your friends.
